Proposition 65, officially named the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, prohibits retailers and manufacturers from knowingly and intentionally exposing California consumers to a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer or developmental or reproductive harm without first providing a “clear and reasonable warning.” (Cal. Health & Safety Code § 25249.6.) There are officially over 900 ingredients and chemicals on the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) list of carcinogen or reproductive toxicants. Many of the elements listed under Proposition 65 are common everyday additives found in products such as jewelry, lamps, ceramic tableware, lead crystal glasses, electric cords, automobiles, beauty products and furniture.
The Proposition 65 Warning Label is required by law on all products that may contain any of these ingredients and materials.
Out of an abundance of caution and because there is always a chance that the hundreds of chemicals listed in Proposition 65 could potentially be on our furniture or packing materials, we must include Proposition 65 warnings on our products sold to California under this law.

Please keep in mind that titanium dioxide is a naturally occurring mineral that is approved by the Food and Drug Administration as food grade additive and food contact application (21CFR §73.575 §178.3297).
Southern Aluminum custom manufacture each order based on the styles and materials selected by our customers. If you want additional details on the substances used in the manufacturing process and the source documents from our suppliers, so you can make your determination under Proposition 65, we would be happy to assist you. In many cases, these substances are incredibly immaterial concentration relative to the entire table, only used in the manufacturing process and the waste properly recycled or disposed, or at extremely low concentrations and contained in a matrix (ie adhesive under the surface).
